The night before the morning after

And another crowd shot

A great time was had by a bumper crowd of 46 law students and alumni at the Melbourne CDU law students’ dinner last Friday 4 May at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  I didn’t have quite such a good time the next morning, a feeling I understand quite a few students who staggered out around midnight also shared.  Fortunately I failed to take any of the anti-Alzheimer’s medication the students presented to me, so I don’t remember much …

Thanks to the hotel management for their generous sponsorship and to CLAMS (CDU Law Association of Melbourne Students) especially Charlie Pease, Rhonda Kelly and Rose Rocca for organising it.

Hopefully the photo gallery feature will allow you to glimpse some of the more restrained activity at the dinner … and the video will show you the first couple of minutes of the raffle of the century with Master of Ceremonies Matthew Storey, immediate past CDU Head of Law and now CEO of Victoria’s peak native title organisation (wait for the video to download because it’s fairly high quality and will stop and buffer if you try to watch it live)

  1. Looks like a good time was had by all. Perhaps I’ll organise something like this at the Quorn Transcontinental Hotel? 🙂 Nice to put some faces to the well-known names.

    1. Perhaps we could also do something similar at the Capricorn Resort Yeppoon in conjunction with the golf pro-am event in July

  2. Well that’s a bit of a nuisance. The system lets me update captions behind the scenes but the updates don’t publish to the site. Sorry about that Nicola and Olivia (not so much Jarrod because I’ve got Buckley’s chance of identifying every single person in the crowd shots).

  3. Ken, we appreciate CDU’s contribution to the night and enjoy catching up whenever you’re down our way… which is not often enough! Charlie did a terrific job organising the night too, I’m really glad he’s still a presence despite having finished his degree. thanks, Nat E.

  4. Oh Moz! Where did you get that shirt?!?! I must say, I am extremely jealous, it looks like everyone had a great night – pity there aren’t any other CDU Law students in Canberra (that I’ve managed to track down).

  5. Phillipa – I had the t-shirts printed, I have one too! We love the dissenting bard! Great night, and pleasure to meet some new folks. Thanks to CDU for their contribution and the organisers for a job well done.
